I’ve just added the wordpress app to my phone so now I have less excuse to not blog. In the next two weeks I’ll be at Super Summer in Abilene and in Tokyo. I’ll do my best to blog every couple of days to keep interested parties updated. Pray for father’s provision and protection in travel and ministry.

Spring Cleaning March 12, 2010

Cleaning always makes me feel better.  Whether it’s my room, my desk or my car; it energizes me and makes me feel like I can accomplish anything!  With all the crazy weather we’ve had lately, I’m really ready for sunshine and spring breezes.  My little sister Crystal is in California for a spring vacation and I must admit, I’m a little jealous.  However, when I think about all that is coming for the summer, I get excited.  YEC, Super Summer, Tokyo.  My heart soars to think of all that God will do in this new season!  How great is He?!  He makes all things new.  He gives us hope and a joy that can come from nothing else.

As you spring clean, think about how He is sanctifying us.  Ephesians 4: 22-24 says “Put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through decietful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.”

Thank you Jesus, for this season of renewal.  Thank you for defeating death so that I might have life.

Great Expectations January 11, 2010

Filed under: Uncategorized — mandy @ 1:43 pm

I know, I know, it’s been 11 months since I’ve posted anything.   But, it’s a new year so here goes nothing!

This weekend I was honored to be part of the inaugural service of the Cowboy Church of Brenham.  My parents and 4 other families are starting this new endeavor.  Dad is the teaching pastor.  I must say that I was blown away by the response of the first Sunday.  When we talked to my parents a few weeks ago about how many they were expecting, they said they were setting up for 160.  Usually in things like this, we tend to hope for the best, but plan for half of what we expect.  Well, yesterday, 160 came.  Plus 140 more!  The guys were pulling chairs out of everywhere!  It was so obvious that God was there.  He showed up and people experienced Him.

How often do we underestimate what He can and will do?  Ephesians 3:20 tells us that God will do ABUNDANTLY more than we can think or imagine for His glory!!  My desire for 2010 is that I won’t let my expectations overshadow God’s ability to exceed them!  I don’t know if anyone else senses this, but I have a feeling that 2010 is going to be something like we’ve never seen.  So here’s to all the possibilities ahead and to our Great Savior who will blow our minds with what He makes possible!!

Hope Now February 1, 2009

I hear this song by Addison Road on the radio about once a day and I love it.   The first two lines are my favorite.  So profound.  If everything really does come down to love, then what are we waiting for?  Why do we hesitate and hide when we know the ONE who is LOVE?  1 John 4: 7-8 tells us what love is…7Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.  8Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God IS love.

Here are the lyrics to the song and the video below. Check out  www.myspace.com/addisonroad

If everything comes down to love
Then just what am I afraid of
When I call out Your name
Something inside awakes in my soul
How quickly I forget I’m Yours

I’m not my own
I’ve been carried by You
All my life

Everything rides on hope now
Everything rides on faith somehow
When the world has broken me down
Your love sets me free

When my life is like a storm
Rising waters all I want is the shore
You say I’ll be ok and
Make it through the rain
You are my shelter from the storm

Everything rides on hope now
Everything rides on faith somehow
When the world has broken me down
Your love sets me free

I am not my own
I’ve been carried by you all my life

Everything rides on hope now
Everything rides on faith somehow
When the world has broken me down
Your love sets me free

You’ve become my hearts desire
I will sing Your praises higher
Cause Your love sets me free
Your love sets me free
Your love sets me free

Ignite January 17, 2009

I’m in Lubbock for the Ignite student conference. I’ve been in the Will Call window since 6pm and i’m pretty sure I’ve got frostbite :). Whose brilliant idea was it to not bring my coat. Despite the chill in the air, it is so cool to see the excitement on these students faces. I can hear them as they are being led in worship by the Jeff Johnson Band. It’s a warmth that a coat just doesn’t provide. In a little while, the speaker will begin and they will have the opportunity to hear the gospel. Pray for their ears to be opened to what God has for them. I’ll update more tomorrow. God is good and His mercy endures forever!

How long can I go between posts? January 16, 2009

My friend Rob reminded me tonight that I haven’t posted in almost a year!  Yikes!  I’m horrible at this thing.  There’s been so much to blog about over the last few months and I just can’t seem to get it all written down.  This weekend I’ll be going to Lubbock for the Ignite student conference.  I’m looking forward to seeing friends and hearing some good preaching and music.  I’ll do my best over the next few weeks to get up to speed with where I am in life.  Suffice it to say that God is working and I’m looking forward to what He has in store for 2009.
